I just returned from my teaching gig at Madrona. What a great event this is. I have been going to Madrona as an attendee for a very long time but in the last two years I have had the pleasure to be attending as a teacher. This event is how the world of events should be run. Suzanne does an amazing job of making sure everyone (vendors, teachers and students) all get the best experience possible. My classes, both the classes I taught and the classes I took were great. My students were so engaged and there were many light bulb moments during both the Knitting With Your iPad class and Designing Your Own Stitch Pattern classes. This is the part of teaching that makes me want to do so much more of this.
I was able to have the time to take two excellent classes. The first on was Spinning The Gradient with Judith. You all know how much of a thing I have for the gradient.
This class was so great and has fueled my love for the gradient even more if that is possible. The other class I took was Celtic Cables with Faina Goberstein.
Amazing class on techniques for celtic cables. I learned so much and can’t wait to incorporate the techniques in my designs. So many ideas, so little time.
Now I am home, washing my clothes, repacking my suitcase, getting my knitting lined up and getting ready to head to Stitches West to work in the WEBs booth. I love working this show with these people and this time around Marcy will be there working with us! It’s work but it’s the best kind of work with this crew! And I’ll get to see friends there that I only get to see once a year. I. Can. Not. Wait.
Among all of this crazy travel the RCYC Mystery KAL is in full swing.
The first 3 clues have been released and the final clue comes out Wednesday, the day I leave for Stitches. It’s been great to see all the beautiful combinations that people are using to knit the piece. I’m super excited to be heading to Wool ‘N Wares on February 25th for a Finish Line Party for the KAL. There’s still time to join us. The pattern is available here.
As I said before, I am really loving the teaching aspect of my job. If you have a LYS, guild or event that you would like to have me teach at drop me a line at TheStitchesOfMyLifeDesigns@gmail.com. I’d love to be included!
Now off to take another load of clothes out of the washer and start the next one. Hope to see you at Stitches!
